Whether you are experienced with image transfers or have never tried them, you will find this worksho an invaluable experience in learning new ways to transfer images from one surface to another. How many times have you read about a technique, followed all the directions only to have it fail? So we have troubleshooting with solutions or explore the happy accidents.

Using mixed media and image transfers, come tell your unique story. Using everything from packing tape to shaving cream to gold leaf, this class will explore a wide range of transfer and surface techniques. Learn how to combine and integrate the different media to pull together a finished piece. Discover the new tools and ideas you need to explore this exciting way of making art that is at once both intensely personal and expressive.
The richly textured mixed media paintings of Darlene Olivia McElroy reflect the vision of an artist whose involvement with man’s primal origins, sins, and religious conflicts has developed into imagery at once sensuously primitive and startlingly sophisticated. Weaving through textural surfaces, found objects, and rich symbolism, the viewer is drawn into a visual world where color plays the role of an atmospheric veil encompassing the personal myths of the artist. Born and raised in southern California, McElroy is a descended from an old New Mexico family of artists and storytellers. She attended the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, and worked as an illustrator in the U.S. and Paris. She is the co-author, with Sandra Duran Wilson, of Image Transfer Workshop, published in 2009 by North Light Books. They are currently working on a second book.www.darleneoliviamcelroy.com

When registering for a workshop with exPRESSive Arts Studio, whether online or via mailed registration form, participant agrees to the terms below.
WAIVER OF LIABILITY & REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICIES
LAST DAY TO WITHDRAW WITH REFUND (minus a $75 processing fee) is 30 days prior to workshop. After this time no refund can be given unless the workshop is completely filled. Minimum enrollment varies.
If minimum enrollment is not met (this rarely happens), you will be notified immediately following the 30 day mark and full refund will be made. However, no discounts or refunds can be given for your late arrival or early departure. Under no circumstances are we responsible for your non refundable hotel or airline charges, so you may want to wait until this time to make plane reservations. Applicable refunds are made within four weeks.
Liability Waiver: The below named participant, on behalf of himself or herself, and all agents, employees, assignees, administrators, or executors, hereby releases, discharges, and waives all claims of liability against exPRESSive Arts Studio, Karon Leigh, The Amado Territory Ranch and/or their employees for any injuries, damages, or loss of any kind that might be sustained while participating in any workshop through exPRESSive Arts Studio, or for any health condition, new or preexisting, that might develop or be affected or aggravated as a result of participation. We can not reduce or waive these terms in the event of circumstances beyond our control such as illness, flight cancellations, war, terrorist attacks, injury or death, natural disaster, or force majeure. If, for reasons beyond our control, we are forced to cancel the workshop, we will do our best to provide a suitable alternative within the year. If any sentence of this agreement is held invalid, it is agreed that the balance thereof shall continue in full legal force and effect.
