Encaustic Basics

| This introductory course will put you well on your way to understanding the medium of encaustic. This beginner workshop is perfect for artists working in other mediums as well as those not experienced with art as no specific skills are required. We’will talk briefly about history, products and supplies before moving to a demo in initial wax application and tons of time painting! You’will learn about support options, fusing, inscribing, and mixed media approaches. We’will cover all the basics but emphasis will be on enabling you to achieve your personal creative vision. Demos and paint time dominate this workshop.. All supplies and equipment included. Up to 4 students allows for personal attention. |

Encaustic Surface Design Techniques #1 - Photo Elements & Collage:

| We will explore surface finishing techniques including embedded photo images on silk paper, photo transfer and natural materials and other collage elements. By combining your photo elements and other collage materials you will create uniquely personal statements that can be continued in your studio and work. |
| This is an intermediate/advanced level class - beginning encaustic class or previous experience required. |
All supplies and equipment included. Up to 4 students allows for personal attention.

Encaustic Surface Design Techniques #2 - Mixed Media & Burning Techniques:

| We will explore surface finishing techniques introducing mixed media elements with encaustic and burning techniques that provide unique surface finishes. Burning applications include tar, glue, shellac and paint. Safely create outrageous and intriguing surface design. |
| This is an intermediate/advanced level class - beginning encaustic class or previous experience required. |
