Encaustic Basics

This introductory course will put you well on your way to understanding the medium of encaustic. This beginner workshop is perfect for artists working in other mediums as well as those not experienced with art as no specific skills are required. We’will talk briefly about history, products and supplies before moving to a demo in initial wax application and tons of time painting! You’will learn about support options, fusing, inscribing, and mixed media approaches. We’will cover all the basics but emphasis will be on enabling you to achieve your personal creative vision. Demos and paint time dominate this workshop.. Most supplies and equipment included. Up to 4 students allows for personal attention.

Hot Wax, Cool Art!

In this 2 day mixed media experimental workshop, experienced artist and novices alike will explore the versatility of incorporating encaustic wax paint into art that reflects their personal style and vision. With patience and encouragement, artist, Karon Leigh will guide you through the basics of encaustic painting and challenge you to explore your personal artistic boundaries.

Most supplies and equipment included. Up to 4 students allows for personal attention.

2 Day Workshop. - Workshop Fee $200 + $25 material fee.

Encaustic & Paper: Monotype & More

You will learn to work with encaustic on paper through a unique "hot box" monotype printmaking technique and explore surface embellisments to create one of a kind mixed media/encaustic works on paper.

Optional Day Two class continues with monotypes and also explores paper dipping and finishing techniques.

Most supplies and equipment included. Up to 4 students allows for personal attention.

One Day Monotype Workshop:
6 hour Workshop: Material Fee: $15. Workshop Fee: 95. = $110.
Two Day Monotype & More Workshop:
12 Hour Workshop. Material Fee: $20 - Workshop Fee $180 = $200 Total. Registration in advance required to reserve a spot with 50% non refundable deposit and full payment required by start of workshop

For PRIVATE INSTRUCTION, add $50 per day to workshop fees.
